I am a 28 year old single female moving from NY to Dallas. In NY online dating is pretty much the only way to date. People do not approach others in person and most people only rely on online dating. I looked on a couple of online dating sites and in Dallas there do not seem to be many people on active on these sites. How do people meet in Dallas? Thanks for answering Here in Dallas it's a mix of all three. Be prepared to be asked out in person. I mentioned in the other post that Texas is a free market state. If someone has a problem with your being Jewish then it's that persons problem, not yours. More to your advantage in not having to deal with their BS. Dallas has a lot of churches and you'll encounter a lot of Christian values but no one is going to have a problem with your religion, as obviously you don't yourself. And as txgolfer130 says, there'll be personal interaction. Don't be surprised when a stranger on the street smiles and say 'good morning'. Okay, you can be surprised but it's going to happen. They don't call it Texas for nothing. Online dating seems to be pretty common in Dallas. I have two sales people both female that are online dating. From what I gather from them, there are some catches in Dallas, but you might have to weed through a lot of douchebags here. One of my sales people has gone through: -two guys who did nothing but brag about how much money they have -a guy who tried his hand at city politics but discovered contrary to popular belief Republicans have a harder time getting elected in the city positions. So he bashed minorities all night instead -one who preached how there should be no taxes at all instead of talking to her at all However that all said, two of my best friends in Dallas met their wives online and they are perfect matches and amazing couples. You just have to realize that you may have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince! Dating in Dallas is similar to dating in LA and less like dating in Chicago or New York. Apperance and what you have or can appear to have matters more than most cities. I am a 28 year old single female moving from NY to Dallas. In NY online dating is pretty much the only way to date. Thanks for answering Everyone is paired off at birth and marry upon graduation from SMU. Some people actually meet each other in public, bars, social events. Used to be all the rage to actually talk to others last century. I looked on a couple of online dating sites and in Dallas there do not seem to be many people on active on these sites. Online dating is pretty big in Dallas too, in fact, that is how I met my wife. A little trick to use on hopefully, I can say it match. Many of them have a feature where you can pay monthly to have you profile highlighted. Anyone with a highlighted profile can receive and respond to your email. Email, wink, nudge those people. HTH That's like music to my ears!!!!! I am Jewish not religious AT ALL , would people in Dallas be turned off to dating someone who is Jewish if they aren't Jewish? Okay, you probably want find a Muslim boy hitting on you but outside of that being Jewish isn't an issue. Dallas, or should I say Texas is more into person interaction. So don't be shocked when a guy approaches you. As for meeting guys, location is key. I wouldn't go looking for a guy in a bar if I was a girl but most couples do end up meeting in bars. A lot these encounters end up being one night stands. So keep that in mind when out clubing. I personally like stated in my other reply, would rent a place in Dallas Uptown. This would put your in a nice area for meeting some great people. Then join a gym and make some girlfriends etc. Does being Jewish turn guys off, ya right, Natalie Portman is Hot Hi. Thanks for answering A I'd say ANYWHERE has more personal interaction than New York, where making eye contact with strangers is apparently a criminal offense. People in Dallas are very social with strangers, far more than the East Coast in general and NYC in particular. Other have answered about online dating, I have no knowledge myself but assume it's done here as well as other places. B as for how do people meet in Dallas, again I assume it's the same as many other places - mainly thru mutual friends and acquaintances, but with some meeting at places of shared interest religion, but more on that alter, but also shared hobbies or whatnot. But sometimes it's just interactions out of the blue - I met a few women in bookstores once from a conversation about kitchen preferences , and I met my wife because she was the manager of a chocolate store next door to my office building I first went for the chocolate, and kept coming back because of the cute woman behind the counter. You'd be amazed where you can meet people once you just start being social. As for being Jewish, that may be an issue with certain people here moreso than in some other places the metroplex does have a higher percentage of conservative christians who likely would not marry outside of their general faith than Manhattan , but I'd guess those people are self-selecting their searches to groups that would exclude you, anyway. And in Dallas, as noted, it's easier to be social with strangers than in New York.
